Bridger is here!!

Bridger Shaun Olson
June 19, 2011
6 lbs 5 ozs
19 1/2 inches

So, I went in for a doctor appointment on the 13th and my doctor said that he would induce me on the 19th. I was in shock that he would induce me on a weekend. Didn't think that they would want to do that. He said that he was at the hospital all day that day so lets give him something to do. I never got really miserable with this pregnancy so I didn't know what to do. I wasn't dying to get the kid out of me. I came home and talked to Mike. We decided to just go ahead and do it. I was looking at the calendar that night and I realized that the 19th was Father's Day. I didn't know if that was what Mike would want to do on Father's Day or not. He said that he thought it would be cool. So, I called my doctor the next day and said to go ahead and schedule me for an induction.

They called us about 6:15 am and said to come in. We got there about 7:00. They said that it was a good thing that we got there when we did because they got really busy and if we would have called they probably wouldn't have taken me. We had the little guy at 4:00 on the dot. I thought the process would have gone quicker since it was so fast with Kyler but it seemed to take forever. We got him here though nice and healthy.

I can't believe how tiny the little guy is. Mike and I were thinking that he would be our biggest baby but he's actually the smallest. We need to fatten him up since he has 3 older brothers!

We are so happy to have Bridger as part of our family!!

Porter's Preschool Graduation

I didn't realize that we had a graduation after each year of preschool. I thought it was just when you were done with preschool that you had a graduation. Nope, we get one every year. Porter graduated from his first year of preschool this week. His preschool is at a gym and they have gymnastics and preschool together. Porter loved preschool this year. He had so much fun and learned so much. He can write his name now and is very proud of that. He was so excited to have his whole family and his grandparents come to his school for graduation. We all loved watching him too! They first showed us what they do in gym time. Then they had a little program where they sang songs and showed off how much they learned. Then the teacher talked a little bit about each child and they got a trophy and a certificate. She said that Porter is a very sensitive kid. One of the most sensitive kids she has come across. He is always saying sorry, oh sorry! And, he can write his name and she is so proud of him! Good job Porter! We are proud of you too!

Porter Gets a Tooth Pulled

A couple days before we went on our trip, Porter was complaining that his tooth hurt. I didn't think much of it and just brushed it off. When we went on our trip Porter was complaining about his tooth the whole time. We had to keep medicine in him the whole time to help it not hurt so bad. We looked at it and it was starting to turn black. So, when we got back from our trip we called the dentist to have him look at it. Mike took Porter over to the dentist after Ryker's surgery. They ended up pulling his tooth. It was a tooth that he had a cavity filled on and it was so deep that it probably didn't get filled all the way. If it would have been an adult, they would have done a root canal. Since he's going to lose the tooth anyway, they just decided to pull it. He was so brave and so good. They didn't even give him the gas. He just took the pain! What a tough boy!

He was so excited to have the tooth fairy come. He wanted to keep his tooth though. He didn't want the tooth fairy to take it. So, we wrote a note asking the tooth fairy to leave his tooth. The next morning he woke up and asked if the tooth fairy came. I told him to go look under his pillow. He comes running out of his room yelling that he got a $2 bill and the tooth fairy left his tooth for him too. He was so excited!

He has to go back now and get a spacer put in so that his teeth don't grow all funny with a big space. We're really hoping that all this work isn't going to make him hate the dentist now. He loves going and is always so good. Cross our fingers it stays that way!

Ryker gets his tonsils out!

Ryker has the hardest time breathing when he sleeps. Plus he is really picky about things he will eat and has a hard time swallowing things. So, at his 3 year check up I talked to the doctor about this. He looked at his tonsils and said they were very large. He referred us to an ENT for a consultation about getting the tonsils and adenoids taken out. The ENT agreed that he was a good candidate to get them removed. He said that we would notice a huge difference in his sleeping and eating if we did it.

So on April 28th, Ryker go his tonsils and adenoids taken out. He was so brave and did so good. I think it was harder on Mom than it was on him. The doctor told us that he did really well during the surgery. He said that he had some big tonsils and some huge adenoids. Hopefully that means this will help the little guy now. After the surgery they go into a recovery area with 2 nurses watching them. They are in there until they wake up. Ryker was just sleeping away for about an hour. They just kept telling us that as soon as he woke up, they would bring him out. When he woke up, he was so mad about the IV that was in his hand. We could hear him just screaming and yelling at the nurses. He wanted that thing out. He was more mad about that than anything. It was kind of funny!

I was so shocked how well he was doing the first 2-3 days. He was eating and acting like nothing. Then the 4th day he was acting like it was starting to hurt more. They told us day 4-6 would be the worst. We are on day 5 today and it started out rough but then he was doing great by tonight. the hardest thing is getting him up in the night to take his medicine. It's a fight but then I think it makes the mornings not so bad. He really has done a lot better than I was expecting. What a brave little boy!

The Beach!!

We spent one day at the beach on our trip. It was firt time the boys have ever been to the ocean or the beach. They LOVED it! Porter had so much fun in the water with Dad. We even got Ryker and Kyler to go in it a little bit with Dad too. They didn't like it nearly as much as Porter. These boys were covered from head to toe with sand when we left. Mike and I were too. A day at the beach with kids = sand EVERYWHERE!!! It was a lot of fun though. The boys had a ball.

After we spent the day at the beach, went to La Jolla Cove to see all the sea lions. Like we didn't see enough sea animals at Sea World, huh?

Sea World!!

Mike had a couple weeks off between semesters so we wanted to do something fun as a family. We were just going to take the trailer and go camping. Somehow that turned into going to Sea World! It was such a last minute trip but it was so worth it. We found a really good package deal that included our hotel and Sea World so we just went with it. We had to be back by Thursday to have Ryker's tonsils out. It was kind of a short trip. We left Friday after I got off work. We drove to Primm which is about half way and stayed the night. Got up the next morning and drove the rest of the way. When we got there, we just swam and hung out at the hotel. Then we spent 2 days at Sea World. Then we had a day at the beach. Then a drive home all in one day. It was so much fun and the boys loved it. Just forwarning that trying to get 3 little boys to all look at the camera at the same time was pretty much impossible. So, we just have what we could get!

They have rides now at Sea World. They didn't when I was there. I wasn't able to go on any since I'm pregnant but the boys had fun going with Mike.

Ryker wasn't tall enough to go on this ride but Porter was so he went on it with Dad. He kept telling Mike before he went that it was going to be awesome. They take a picture when you are going down the drop off and Porter looked scared to death. It was so funny! Mike was just watching Porter the whole ride laughing. They got soaked too. You can see them at the back of the boat in the second picture. After the ride Porter said it was so fun but he didn't want to go on it again!

Peguins!

One morning the flamingos were out. Porter wanted to go touch them so bad.

Sharks!

Both days Kyler knocked out for a little bit in the stroller. It was nice for him to take a little nap!

We got to hold some starfish. The boys thought that was so cool!

Shamu! Shamu! Shamu!

The sea lion show.

And the dolphin show. As you can see we sat in the soak zone for this show and we got soaked. The first day the boys didn't think it was that fun getting soaked. Ryker and Kyler started crying. The second day we got even more soaked at the show and that was fun for them. They knew what to expect that time!

This is after the show. You can't really tell from the picture but they are soaked.

We took a pack and play for Kyler to sleep in. It was so cute, when we would come back to the hotel, the maids would have made Kyler's bed too. Had to take a picture of it!

Mike's New Job!

Mike got a job at the hospital!!!! We are very excited! Mike heard in class that they had 4 postitions available. They really wanted to hire someone from his class because they really like all the students in his class. So, they told them all to apply. Mike did and he got a phone call for an interview about a week later. He went in for his interview and was really nervous. He had no idea what to expect. He came home and wasn't that excited. He didn't feel like he did very good in the interview. We weren't really counting on a call back. Then one day when he was at his clinicals, one of the guys hiring came and got him and asked him a few questions. Mainly wanted to know what his plans were for the future and if he was planning on sticking around. A few weeks later people in his class started getting emails that they didn't get the job. That was on a Friday. He never got an email. We couldn't help but start to get our hopes up at this point. He was texting everyone in his class trying to narrow it down who was left. There were 3 of them that hadn't gotten an email. We talked about him getting the job all weekend. Monday I get up and go to work and about a half hour after I get there I get a phone call from Mike. He tells me he got the job!!! It was very unexpected but we were really excited too. It's just a PRN (as needed) position. We weren't sure how we were going to work this out with me working and the kids. Well, it ends up that most of the shifts are nights and weekends. That works out good. He had his first shift March 25th. He said it was so busy but it was a lot of fun being on his own. This is a great opportunity for Mike to get his foot in the door and get some experience. Hopefully it'll pay off and when he finishes school, he'll be able to get a full time job. Isn't he amazing? He thinks he bombs the interview and he gets the job!
