Porter is 4!

Porter isn't going to know what to do when Christmas is over and he doesn't get any more presents. With his birthday in December and between all the family birthday parties and Christmas parties, seems like he's getting presents every other day! He loves it though!

We had a lot of fun celebrating Porter's birthday this year. We had our own little family party. I got a little cake from the store which I thought he would love. However, he told me that he wanted a white cake with strawberries on top. So, I had to make that for the Olson's birthday party. Aunt Andrea made a cute train cake for the Custer birthday party that Porter celebrated with his cousin Adam.

All Porter asked for this year for his birthday and Christmas is a gun. So, we gave him a HUGE nerf gun. Yep, it's bigger than him. He loves the thing too! It's actually 2 guns in 1 so we took it apart and he let Ryker shoot the other gun. He also got some new snow clothes and a movie.

At the Olson party he got a truck with a trailer with 2 motorcycles on it. All the kids loved it. He got some books too and a sled and movie from Grandma and Grandpa. At the Custer party he got some more books, a shirt with a dirt bike toy, a movie, a game and a puzzle. Boy, he sure got spoiled!

Halloween 2010

We have been trying to figure out what the boys wanted to be for Halloween for a couple months. Porter really wanted to be Spiderman for a few weeks and then he changed his mind and wanted to be a dinosaur. They are his favorite animal. Ryker is always saying that he's a monkey so he was a monkey. Kyler really didn't have an opinion what he wanted to be. I saw this shark costume and just loved it so that's what he was.

For Halloween this year my Mom and Dad had a party that we all had fun at. Then we went to our wards trunk or treat. It was pouring rain right before it was suppose to start so we debated about going to it. It stopped raining so we ran down to it. Kyler fell in a puddle and was soaked the whole time and Ryker dropped his bag of candy in a puddle. That made it really fun! No, we did have a lot of fun. The kids loved dressing up and showing off their costumes. The Monday before Halloween I found out I was pregnant. We wanted to announce it to our families and I found the cutest way to. I found this shirt online and just wore it to all the parties and things.

No one really knew if they should believe me or if I was just in costume. They were all surprised but excited. We were pretty surprised ourselves but we are really excited too.

Porter Starts Preschool

What, Porter's in preschool? I know, crazy that my little man is already in preschool! He has been so excited to start school like Dad. He gets to wear his backpack and go to school all by himself. Then he gets to study with Dad too. So cute! We wanted to put Porter in gymnastics this year too. We found a preschool close to my work that offers gymnastics with it. It worked out perfect! The first day when I take Porter we walk in and I see one of our friends there with her little boy Bridger. We had no idea that they were putting him in preschool there too and in the same class even. That will be so fun for them! After his first day I pick him up and on our way home he's telling me what he did and he says, Mom, Bridger and I got in trouble! I say, What? On you first day? He giggles and says, yeah. Come to find out, Bridger and him were jumping on the trampoline when they weren't suppose to. Naughty little boys. Their dad's say they are making their dad's proud! Coming from 2 guys that probably got into trouble together plenty when they were in school together! First thing I asked him when I picked him up the second day was, did you and Bridger get in trouble today? He told me no! I love how excited he is for school. Lets hope it stays that way! He doesn't quite understand that he only goes every other day. He wants to go everyday. He is just so stinking cute! I love it! He's just growing up so fast, I can't believe it!

Had to get a couple pictures with his little brother Ryker! They really wanted to be going together. Next year they will be!

Kyler's First Birthday

So much has happened since my last post. It'll take me awhile to get caught up on all that so lets start with one of the big things that happened.....Kyler's first birthday. Yes, my baby is one! I can't believe it. Kyler started walking a couple weeks before his birthday. Porter and Ryker both started walking around their birthday but Kyler beat them there. Now that he's walking he thinks he is just as big as his big brothers and that he can do everything that they do. It's really funny! For Kyler's birthday we had a little family party with our family and he got his very own birthday cake which he loved and ate every bit of. Ok, Dad and his brothers helped! Then he got to have a party with the Custer's with Mom and Aunt Kristy. And, he got spoiled just like all kids do! And, he loved every bit of it too!

Look at him eye this cake! Just couldn't wait to dig in!

Tada!

Yes, I got really creative and made a dragon cake. Turned out ok! It was a lot more work than I was planning on but all the kids loved it!

4th of July 2010

The 4th of July was a lot of fun this year. I took an extra day off work so I had a 4 day weekend. It was great to spend that many days with my boys. Unfortunately Mike was either in class or at the hospital so we didn't get to spend a lot of time with him. We did get him one night for a BBQ and fireworks though. I did have one of my scariest moments in my life this weekend though. I took my boys to the Freedom Festival with my parents Saturday afternoon. There was a bunch of the big blowup things to play on. Porter was playing on them and having a ball. Then all of a sudden I couldn't find him anywhere. HE WAS LOST!!!! I was totally freaking out! My dad and I were walking all over trying to find him while my mom sat with my other boys. Then I heard them talking on the microphone about a little 3 year old that was lost. I went running over there and there was Porter. Luckily he was only lost for 10 minutes. Not something I want to experience again! After that, I decided that we were leaving. That night my grandparents had the whole extended family over Saturday night for a BBQ and to watch the Stadium of Fire fireworks. Sunday we had a BBQ at my parents. We played BUMP, a family favorite and then lite off some fireworks. Fireworks with my family is just complete chaos. There are people everywhere just lighting tons off at the same time. It's just craziness for about 10-15 minutes and then it's over. It's a lot of fun though. My boys loved it! On Monday my parents took all the grandkids to the movie, How to Train a Dragon. Not a good idea to take a 10 month old to the movies though. I was out in the hall for the whole movie. My boys and everybody said that the movie was really good though. I'll have to rent it sometime and watch it at home when my baby is asleep!! It was a very fun filled weekend!

Ragnar 2010

I'm putting 2010 at the end of that heading because I plan on having a Ragnar posting every year!! About a week and half ago I had one of the coolest experiences of my life. I was able to run Ragnar. I've heard about Ragnar the past couple of years but never had a desire to run it until this year. We talked about having team with some of my siblings but when we went to sign up, they were already full. My sister in law, Alicia was running it on a team. She told me to keep running and I could be backup on her team. A week before the race Alicia asked me if I still would want to run it. A girl on her team had gotten pnemonia and was not able to run. I said of course. I was so excited but had no idea what I was getting myself into. For those of you who don't know what Ragnar is I'll tell ya! It's a relay race, 188 miles from Logan to Park City over a 2 day period. There are 12 people on a team, 6 people in a van and someone is running the whole time. You run 3 legs. When I was first asked to run I was told I'd be runner 2. They were all pretty easy runs and I wasn't worried about it at all. I went to the final team meeting the Monday before the race and found out that I was actually runner 3. I looked at my runs. The first one was 5.4 miles with no hills. My second was 4.9 miles with no hills. My third run was 7.9 miles WITH hills. I have not been training on hills. I never run hills. I was really nervous about my last run but was willing to take the challenge. The morning of the race, my team met at 4:30 and headed up to Logan. I was in a van with 6 girls that I didn't know. It was fun though because none of us knew anybody. It was great to get to know all of them. At the start line we had to take a safety course and then get our packets. Our first runner took off at 8:45. We were off! I just kept getting more and more excited. Our first 2 runners finished and then I was off on my first run at 11:15 am. I finished and it felt great! My next run wasn't until 9:00 pm. That was a great run. It was nice and cool. I was just getting into it when my 4.9 miles was over. Our last runner finished about 12:30 am. We headed to a high school that we were suppose to rest at until our next runs. We got to the high school slept on the band room floor for about 3 hours. Then we were up and off to run our last runs. When I woke up, I felt like crap! I was so tired and exhausted. I didn't know how I was going to run 8 miles up hills. I was getting really nervous for my run. I ended up starting my run at 8:45 am. The first part of the run wasn't bad at all. Then the hill came. I hit half way in the middle of the huge hill. I was dying! I just kept telling myself, don't stop, keep running! My van was awesome and cheered me on the whole way! Somehow I made it! It felt so good when I was done. I felt such a feeling of accomplishment. I had done it. I ran 18.5 miles in 24 hours! Wow!!! Our van finished up our runs and headed to Park City to wait for the other van and go accross the finish line as a team. Our team ended up coming across the finish line about 5:45 pm. What a great feeling it was when we got our medals! I loved Ragnar and I'm looking forward to next year! We have talked about having a family team next year and I can't wait!!!

A girl on our team works for one of the newspapers and wrote an article about it too.share

Our Little Archers

We got Porter a little bow last year. This year he is actually big enough to shoot it on his own. He absolutely loves that thing this summer. He takes it outside with him everyday and shoots it. Mike got his old quiver for him to put his arrows in when he shoots. He looks so cute! I just had to take some pictures! We need to get Ryker a bow now because he's always wanting to shoot Porter's. Porter is a great big brother and helps him shoot it.

Here is Porter helping Ryker shoot!

And here is Porter. Check out his awesome form!

Look at that follow through!
